The Lions Club of Bradford on Avon recently made a donation of £500 to the Bradford Town Youth F.C under 11s. This covered the cost of hiring pitches and referees on their tour to Barcelona, during which time they played against 3 different clubs and a local school. The highlight of the tour was the coaching session at the F.C. Barcelona Academy. All other costs (around £14k) were raised by the boys and parents through Fund Raising events. <br /> President Mike Evans is pictured with the squad at the handing over of the cheque.

The event concluded with the 100 year old handing over a Lion Stuffed Toy to the baby girl. This was to depict the start of the next 100 years of Lionism.<br /> This presentation was the idea of Club Member Phil Courage and his daughter Felicity. The dancers and costumes were provided by the local Drama Group, The Bradfordians. Phil and Felicity are both leading lights in this group.
As part of their 21st Annual Fun Day, The Bradford on Avon Lions Club elected to celebrate 100 years of Lion’s Service by featuring a parade of cars from the last 100 years, supported by a commentary describing major events, inventions etc over this period. It also covered a potted history of our Lion’s organisation and major undertakings. Each decade featured a car from that era, together with music and a dance routine.<br /> The first car to enter the arena accompanied to the music of the Charleston, was a 1925 Humber. Its passenger was a 100 year old local lady
The final decade was represented by a 2017 Toyota CHR, to the music Happy. Its passenger was a 6 months old baby girl.

As members of Lions Clubs International, we have a global network of 1.4million volunteers. When a humanitarian crises strikes, Lions Clubs International Foundation work with and are guided by their own Lions members who are ordinary people present on the ground. As the World’s largest voluntary, non-governmental organisation, our volunteers fundraise in their own local communities, with every penny raised being used to help those in need. We don’t spend money on fancy fundraising campaigns, all our administration and marketing costs are funded by members’ subs. It can prove difficult providing aid but we are committed to not wasting money entrusted to Lions by the public and ensuring it can genuinely help victims of disaster. Lions Clubs of the British Isles are very grateful for the public support, which enables us to commit to solving long-term problems through our presence in local communities throughout the world. Every Lions Club supports a range of good causes and local projects in its area where you can get involved.
